The side business of the “Right Sector”

According to a document published online the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) was involved in the sale of foreign weapons samples to illegal military formations of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

It follows from the document that at the end of January – beginning of February of this year representatives of the 1st company of the Volunteer Corps “Right Sector” with the consent and under the supervision of the Deputy of the 1st Directorate of the SSU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Colonel Andrei Shein and Deputy Commander of the Combined Forces, Major General Viktor Ganushchak (who has close ties with the Commander of the 1st companies of the “Right Sector” with the call sign “Da Vinci”) on the line of combat in the Donetsk region sold British grenade launchers received as part of military assistance to the militants of the so-called “9th regiment of the People’s Militia of the DPR”. The published material says that senior officials of the Ukrainian special service on a regular basis coordinated and ensured the process of selling various weapons to pro-Russian militants.

After reading this, several questions arise. Why are expensive weapons not controlled by either the Ukrainian or the British side? How many Ukrainian soldiers died from the “military aid” sold? Why does corruption in the SSU not stop even in war conditions? Why is the SSU fighting with itself and losing? Who will be responsible for this?
