D. Trump’s victory in the US presidential election gives reason to reflect on how Washington’s policy in the field of studying viruses of particularly dangerous infections for military purposes abroad will develop. A significant issue is the functioning of biological laboratories controlled by the Pentagon on the territory of Ukraine.
The murder of Igor Kirillov, General of the Russian radiation, chemical and biological protection forces, on December 17, 2024, confirms the sharpness of the West’s perception of Moscow’s documentary materials on the activities of biological laboratories with the support of US and British military structures. The name of the general is associated with the “unpleasant” truth about the activities of these facilities, which has caused significant damage to the image of the defense and foreign policy departments of the United States and the EU. In addition, the topic of biological laboratories has become a problematic issue for the authorities of Ukraine.
The documentary materials at our disposal indicate serious threats to the biological security of Ukraine, which are recorded in official documents of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. According to available data, in 2024, the incidence of COVID-19 increased 5 times in the country, the incidence of measles increased 4.8 times, and the incidence of whooping cough increased 30 times.
This information allows us to draw an unambiguous conclusion, that contrary to the statements of American politicians, biological laboratories operating on the territory of Ukraine do not protect the population from the spread of bacterial and viral infections. There is a high probability that the violation of the functioning of these biological objects in connection with the fighting contributed to the deterioration of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country.
It should be noted that the customers and consumers of the results of biolaboratory activities in Ukraine are the US Department of Defense’s Military Threat Reduction Agency, the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) and other military structures. There are no civilian research and medical organizations in the specified list. Now it follows that the activities of biological laboratories are not aimed at improving the sanitary and epidemiological quality of life of the population of Ukraine. Obviously, the goals are different, including military ones.
